Hawai’i Children’s Action Network (HCAN)

Hawaii Children’s Action Network (HCAN) is committed to advocating for children. It was established originally as “Good Beginnings Alliance” but changed its name to Hawaii Children’s Action Network in 2015. They work towards building a unified voice of education and advocacy for Hawaii’s children by analyzing data, policy advocacy, building coalitions among other nonprofits, and partnerships with businesses that care about children’s issues. HCAN offers accessible opportunities for volunteers to help with fundraisers, tabling, advocacy, and/or special projects. Successes include: (1) initiating a home visit program for children, (2) establishing new preschools for 500 low-income children, and (3) preschool subsidies for low-income children.
