Virginia Tries New Approach to Keep Teachers from Quitting

In an effort to encourage early childhood teachers to not quit their jobs, Virginia is giving teachers a $1,500 bonus, received in three payments over eight months.  Researchers at the University of Virginia found that the payments reduced turnover by 11 %.   The research was done before the pandemic, “but it’s hugely connected to current conditions,” said the researchers.
