Affordable child care in Pennsylvania should not be politically gridlocked- Opinion

Right now, Pennsylvania families and educators are caught in the crossfire of a state budget standoff. The impasse has left billions of dollars in limbo, delaying payments to public schools, Pre-K Counts and other state-funded programs that families rely on.

Teachers’ unions warn that classrooms are already feeling the strain, while local providers say they’re struggling to keep doors open without knowing when funding will arrive. For parents and caregivers, that uncertainty adds to an already crushing childcare crisis.
