This bill talks about how the technology-based school readiness pilot program is to be established during fiscal years 2021-2022 and 2022-2023. This program is “designed to improve a child’s transition into elementary education and contain content in reading, mathematics and science”. The ‘program’ is to be provided in the child’s home, and installing a computer and/or home internet services for families that do not have either is a part of the program requirements, as well as “support models provided in English, Spanish, and other languages as needed”. Supposedly the program will also track academic growth. $2,000,000 is appropriated from the state general fund in fiscal year 2021-2022 to the department of education for the purposes of the technology-based school readiness pilot program.
