Incubator of promising research and development projects that aim to improve the physical and mental health, safety, nutrition, education, play, familial support, acculturation, societal integration and childcare of young children, from infancy through 7 years, in the United States. The foundation provides seed money to “implement those imaginative proposals” that will change the lives of children. Previous grants awarded include funding for the recruiting of spatial-numerical representations to enhance the use of advanced math strategies in low-income students (Boston College), funding for a project to help families with children with autism by identifying psychosocial stressors (Nemours Hospital for Children), funding for the development and testing of the Playing to Learn Curriculum for teaching complex play to young children with disabilities (Vanderbilt University), and various others.
