Early Learning Neighborhood Collaborative

The Early Learning Neighborhood Collaborative (ELNC) is a non-profit organization aiming to provide funding, advocacy, and high-quality early childhood educational services to families, children and neighborhoods that are more “at-risk or vulnerable”. They have partnered with organizations such as the Hispanic Center of Western Michigan (https://hispanic-center.org/youth-education-services/) providing funding for a free bilingual preschool program. ELNC seems to be truly community based and emphasizes the role of the child’s local community, as well as using a child’s own “place” as a learning environment rich in experience. ELNC also has a strong mission statement regarding each individual child’s capabilities–regardless of background and community–and how to best foster and embrace what each child brings to the classroom.
