EDUCATE is a California nonprofit public benefit corporation organized for public and educational purposes including the development or funding of programs to educate and support children and their families. EDUCATE Long Beach is dedicated to whole-child development and education and achieves this by offering various child care and parent programs. Their most recent project model is “Comprehensive Pre-K for Individual Long Term Success”, which led to the creation of Un Mundo de Amigos Preschool (UMDA) in 2008, which “engages and prepares potentially at-risk children to be active, motivated learners”. It is a dual-language, free, and/or low-cost prekindergarten program in central Long Beach for three and four-year-olds.
