Federal cuts threaten Ga. school meals, mental health support

ATLANTA, Ga. – As students across Georgia return to classrooms, federal funding cuts are raising concerns about access to free school meals and mental health services.

Parents and Democratic lawmakers are calling on the state to step in and fill the gap, warning that planning must begin immediately to avoid serious consequences.

The federal spending bill, passed earlier this year, scales back programs that expanded free and reduced-price lunch access and supported mental health resources in public schools.
