Kids on the Ballot: What the 2025 Elections Said About America’s Priorities for Children

From Kids Can’t Wait Substack

Children didn’t show up at the polls last week, but voters showed up for them in many places across the country.

In classrooms, clinics, cafeterias, and child care centers across the country, the impact of the 2025 elections is already being felt. From Colorado to Seattle, voters approved measures to expand early learning, fund school meals, and invest in the well-being of young people. Voters turned out in favor of kids – not just in sentiment, but in dollars and deeds. In some places, voters created new public systems built for children from the ground up. And in others, they rejected culture-war candidates whose agendas threaten inclusion, trust, and safety in schools.

For the most part, Tuesday, November 3rd, was a good night for children.
