The Parent Child Preschool Organization (PCPO) is a group of cooperative preschools operated by a community of families who want to be involved in their children’s first educational experience. Their values are rooted in play based learning and small adult to student ratios so children receive individualized attention. The organization’s mission is to “empower its members to build and sustain thriving, diverse, cooperative preschool communities where children learn through play”. PCPO offers resources in assisting newly forming schools, existing schools, encouraging communication among schools, and educating teachers and parents. This year, the organizations annual conference included talks and workshops such as “Mindfulness and Emotional Resilience”, “Creating Anti-Racist Reading Libraries and Experiences”, “Growth Mindset: A Framework for Child Development”, and “Preschoolers, Private Parts, and Playmates: Sexual Behavior in Young Children”.
