Tell Congress: Don’t Let Linda McMahon Slash Funding for Children and Veterans to Fund School Choice

From The Network for Public Education

Secretary of Education Linda McMahon, handpicked by Donald Trump to lead the U.S. Department of Education, has just released the most brutal, calculated, and destructive education budget in the Department’s history. Her budget will eliminate $8.5 billion in Congressionally established competitive grants and funded programs, 28 in total. The scheme is to completely abolish 10 programs and put the rest in a block grant. In a stunning act of gaslighting, she funds the remaining 18 programs with only a $2 billion block grant—$4.5 billion fewer dollars than those 18 programs had in 2024.

This budget also defunds $1.67 billion–all of the Congressionally funded student college assistance programs– and at the same time, slashes Pell grant amounts.  We must protect our children and their future.
