Date Introduced: 8/27/18

Current Status: Approved by Governor (8/9/2019)

School districts need to ensure that mental health is included in their health

curriculum for grades kindergarten through 12. It needs to include “the relation of physical and

mental health so as to enhance student understanding, attitudes, and behaviors that promote

health, well-being, and human dignity.” The instruction should be age-appropriate and will be

reviewed by the State Board of Education in conjunction with mental health experts.
