The South Dakota Statewide Family Engagement Center is dedicated to “uniting students, families, schools, and communities together by focusing on learner needs from ‘cradle to career.’ SFEC strives to ensure that all learners—especially English Language Learners (ELL), economically disadvantaged learners and minority students—have the support they need to achieve academic, career, and life goals.” SFEC offers several resources on their website for families and educators, including a meditation playlist, kindergarten readiness tools (both in Spanish and English), family engagement toolkits for educators, trauma informed practices, and aligned activities supporting the Oceti Sakowin Essential understandings.
