In our March 2nd episode, Kisha Reid talks with Peter Gray Ph.D., a research professor at Boston College, author of the book Free to Learn –  and a contributing editor at Psychology Today.  

His current research and writing focus primarily on children’s natural ways of learning and the life-long value of play.  In their discussion Peter breaks down the definition of the word Play. Through the  five characteristics Peter Gray clarifies the meaning and scope of true play and why it’s so important for a child’s healthy development

Guest bio:

Peter is a well known advocate for Free Play!  He is an author and contributing editor at Psychology Today.  He has published research in neuroendocrinology, developmental psychology, anthropology, and education. He did his undergraduate study at Columbia University and earned a Ph.D. in biological sciences at Rockefeller University. His current research and writing focus primarily on children’s natural ways of learning and the life-long value of play. He is a founding member of the nonprofit Alliance for Self-Directed Education and a founding board member of the nonprofit Let Grow.
