Speakers, in order, included:
- Blakely Bundy, DEY Co-Director, introducing the program and the speakers.
- Dr. Diane Levin, Senior Advisor of DEY and professor at Wheelock College in Boston, speaking about the challenges facing education today and DEY’s response to them
- Dr. Marcy Guddemi, until recently President of the Gessell Institute at Yale University, currently a national consultant, based in Florda, and a member of DEY’s Advisory Board, speaking about recent brain research about the importance of play in brain development
- James St. Clair, former kindergarten teacher in New York and Boston and a member of DEY’s National Advisory Board, discussing how kindergarten has changed over the years, primarily due to the mandates
After presentations by the four speakers, participants broke up into four groups to brainstorm the issues that they were facing and how DEY could help. Dr. Levin facilitated the final session ranking important next steps.
