Kindergarten Teacher: Why Our Youngest Learners are Doomed Right Out of the Gate – and a Roadmap to Fix It

Phyllis Doerr, a kindergarten teacher from Newark, NJ,  is greatly concerned about what is happening in kindergartens today, setting kids up for failure and learning to hate school.  She mentions developmentally inappropriate concepts are to blame, such as reading and writing too soon; making children sit for long periods of time, and replacing play with academics.

But she has solutions, too.
